for the intervention and treatment of aspects of the behavioural, psychosomatic, gerontological, mental health, and cognitive
disorders as well as learning and neurological impairements.
Calligraphy Therapy can be defined as the interdisciplinary
field concerned with the development and integration of psychosocial, behavioral and biomedical knowledge relevant to the
dynamic practice of handwriting for the goal of promotion of health and treatment of illnesses, the application of this knowledge
as well as the development of biomedical technologies to prevention, etiology, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation The
scope of "calligraphy therapy" extends from theory-building and testing to research efforts and empirical validation
towards understanding fundamental bio-behavioral mechanisms; to clinical diagnosis and intervention; to disease prevention
and health promotion.
The International Society of Calligraphy (ISCT) is intended to serve the needs of all health-related
disciplines concerned with the integration of psychosocial, behavioral and biomedical sciences with respect to the graphonomic
execution of words, letters and other linguistic forms as well as to the positive effects on specific aspects of one’s
